Patio Gardens specialized in hanging baskets, annuals, and creative planters, but offers everything for your yard. A destination for gardeners we have everything from perennials to trees, indoor plants, the largest selection of ceramic pots in Victoria, as well as gardening workshops, informative speakers, seasonal farm events, and a massive Christmas Craft Fair. We like to have fun at Patio Garden! Our team is supportive, inclusive, and we strive to create a safe work environment for all.
Responsibilities:
- Customer Assistance: Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with plant selection, gardening advice, and product information.
- Plant Care: Watering, pruning, and ensuring the health and vitality of our plant inventory. Potting and propagation.
- Receiving: Unloading orders, processing to sales.
- Merchandising: Maintain an attractive and organized display of plants, gardening supplies, and accessories.
- Cashier Duties: Handle financial transactions accurately on the point-of-sale (POS) machine and efficiently, while maintaining a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
- Knowledge Sharing: Share your gardening expertise with customers and team members. Ability to take direction, and work independently or with a team. Show a keen interest in learning.
- Show initiative: Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Qualifications:
- Passion for gardening and plants.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills. Fluent in English with strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, crouch and kneel, pull hoses and move plants in pots
- Ability to do repetitive tasks (seeding, transplanting, watering) with efficiency and care
- Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions and hot/humid greenhouse environments
- Basic knowledge of horticulture and gardening practices.
- Retail and sales experience is a preferred.
- Able to work weekends and holidays.
- Interest in learning and growing in the horticulture industry.
Compensation:
- $ 18-20 per hour depending on experience
