 Summer Activities
Equity & Outreach Summer Series

With three campuses' worth of Equity, Outreach & Support services to nurture our diverse communities, the University of Toronto welcomes new students with warmth, camaraderie, and an abundance of resources. Students of all backgrounds who are eager to get ahead this summer can now enjoy our new Equity & Outreach Summer Prep Series. Designed for students in Grades 10 and 11, each session is designed as a standalone workshop: students can attend any or all, and no preparation is required.

While we welcome all participants, we strongly encourage students who are from Black, Indigenous, racially diverse, first-generation and LGBTQ2S+ communities to attend. We'll discuss criteria to consider when choosing a university and program, admissions processes, financial aid, and more.

Philosophy Summer Camp

When your students argue sassily with you, do you ever wish their arguments were sounder? U of T Mississauga's Department of Philosophy is now accepting registrants for its new Summer Camp — an outstanding opportunity for students in Grade 12 / Senior Year to hone their reasoning skills alongside peers from other cultures, countries, and communities. These enriching sessions will cover argumentation, self-reflection, ethics, and more. High school students from anywhere in the world are welcome to enrol.

Enrichment and summer programs are offered by many areas at the University of Toronto in a wide range of topics. These programs are for high school students looking to explore new areas, challenge themselves, and expand their horizons. Our full set can always be found here

Stay tuned for more. For a full list of new Arts & Science programs, certificates, and focuses, please see the Academic Calendar.

U.S.-Patterned Curriculums: Test-Optional Update

Test-optional assessment has been adopted for students applying for Fall 2021 and Fall 2022 admission. For complete details, please have a look at our U.S. admissions page. As we look back on this past cycle, we are pleased to report that about 59 percent of our incoming U.S.-curriculum students did not submit test scores.

Our Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering is test-optional for both 2021 and 2022 admissions. However, we continue to encourage Engineering applicants to submit any SAT, ACT, or AP exams that they have completed. Learn more about admission requirements for U.S.-curriculum applicants to U of T Engineering.

 Looking Ahead to Fall 2021

Our colleagues across the tri-campus system are working hard on a cautious, scaffolded reopening plan in compliance with public health guidelines. As part of our commitment to health and safety, the University of Toronto and its federated colleges will require students living in residence during the 2021-22 school year to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students who plan to live in residence will need to provide confirmation of vaccination no later than 14 days after their move-in date.

The University will facilitate access to vaccines for students who require assistance with this process. Students who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons or on grounds protected under the Ontario Human Rights Code may request an exemption. To learn more, and to browse U of T's COVID-19 FAQs, students and families can consult this comprehensive resource page.

 Meet us at IACAC 2021!

Are you planning to attend the International Association for College Admission Counseling's conference this summer? Scheduled for July 12-16, the IACAC is always a blast. A sizeable contingent of U of T recruiters will be taking part, and we're looking forward to reconnecting in those virtual showrooms and breakout rooms we've all become acquainted with. Make a mocktail. Tell us how you've been. One day, soon, we'll do it again in person.

Learning by Doing

Did you know that co-op students earn starting salaries 12 percent higher than their peers after graduating? With 80+ co-op programs at U of T Scarborough, 3,000+ job openings for U of T Engineering students through the Professional Experience Year co-op program, and a host of new bursaries covering all fees, equipment, and travel for experiential learning courses at U of T Mississauga, we're serious about getting students out of the classroom and into the world.
