A message to school counsellors and educators, from Stephanie Parker Huskinson, UVic Student Recruitment:

Hello Counsellors and Educators!

As self-reporting winds down, I wanted to keep you updated on some important information and deadlines that would be helpful to you and your students.

Self-reporting will close on March 15th. We have recorded an instructional video to assist students completing this crucial step of the application process.

Ministry of Education Transcripts – Undergraduate Admissions will be emailing all BC applicants in April, instructing them on how to grant the appropriate permissions through the Student Transcript Service to send interim and final transcripts. We will be accessing these grades in mid-May to confirm self-reported information and re-evaluate applicants placed on a “hold” status based on their self-reported grades.

Admissions Assistants – When your students have specific questions about their applicant file or inquire about changes to their application, they should contact their Admissions Assistant. Applicants do have this contact information in emails they have received from the Undergraduate Admissions office but here is the list for your reference. Admissions Assistant Directory

Discover UVic Presentations – We will be hosting Discover UVic presentations throughout the spring, geared toward Grade 11 students researching their options for next year. The presentation will provide information about the academic opportunities that students can pursue and what makes UVic the unique place that it is.  Registration is available on our Tours and Events page.

Deadline Reminders

Specific Criteria Application-based Entrance Scholarships deadline: April 30

·        Reminder that students must accept scholarship offers by the deadline indicated in the scholarship offer email from Student Awards office. They do not need to have accepted their offer of admission to accept a scholarship. Accepting scholarship simply holds that scholarship for them in the event that they do accept their offer of admission.

Deadline to accept offer of admission: May 1

·        Some programs have earlier deadlines and students should review their offer of admission in detail for this information.

Online course deadline: May 31

·        If the course being taken is one of their admission requirements, it must be 100% complete by May 31st.

First Year Priority Housing Application deadline: June 30

One final note, we will be hosting Registration 101 Virtual Presentations starting in mid-May to assist admitted students navigate the course selection process. Students will be able to register for these sessions on the Tours and Events section of our website in April.

As always, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions that you or your students have and thank you for everything that you do to support your students.

Cheers,
Stephanie
