A message to schools, from University of Toronto:

The U of T community's been busy, that's for sure! We're caring for our neighboursprinting fox skulls for our illustrators-in-trainingbeaming lab equipment into homes, and celebrating our students' resilience, among so much else. It's been a unique year, and one that's only underscored how much we value our colleagues across the educational landscape.

Your work in these times is vital, and we want you to know that we're here for you. Students can always get a head start on their plans by signing up for virtual campus tours, webcasts, or webchats, and asking us anything about our campuses, programs, and requirements.

 February—and Beyond!
Launching this Month: U of T Talks

Featuring leading lights in every field, U of T Talks will bring some of the world’s foremost intellectuals directly to your students. We’ll soon be offering a full menu of TED-style talks through a rich selection of streams—starting with an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion stream. Highlighting the work of our diverse faculty and their research, this series will be essential viewing for today’s emerging leaders. Every session will include a facilitated, live Q&A. Join us on February 18 for Black History Month as Professor Janelle Joseph discusses the African diaspora in sport in Canada. Learn more.

Springing Ahead

Winter's nearly behind us, and that restless ambition we're all feeling is more than just spring fever! Starting on March 13th and continuing through April, our team will be welcoming students to Spring Into U of T, a buffet of live sessions for anyone wondering if one of our programs might be the path for them. Learn more.

Designing the Future

Our John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design at the University of Toronto is hosting a full slate of winter talks, featuring a wide range of speakers on today's pressing challenges. Bringing the insights of architecture, urban design, visual studies, and forestry to bear on such topics as decolonization, density, and sustainability, this series will offer a public forum for discussing how designers can respond to injustice. Register here.

 Applications & Admissions

Our top priority remains the wellbeing of our students, including our future students. We continue to monitor global events and investigate options for students unable to access services. Please be sure to check our Undergraduate Admissions Bulletins for all of our programs and their prerequisites, as well as our English Language Requirements page for the latest on the proficiency tests and qualifications that we accept.

We are aware that school boards around the world have been adjusting course delivery due to COVID-19 and that some Canadian high schools are following a model that divides the academic year into four or five blocks. Please be assured that applicants will not be disadvantaged if they are required to take Grade 12 English, mathematics courses, or other prerequisites in their last quadmester. If a Grade 12 mark is unavailable during an admission round, the committee will look at the Grade 11 mark in the same subject area. We always consider applications based on the most current grades available.

Keep your eyes on our School Counsellors page! We'll soon be offering a series of information sessions just for counsellors on a wide range of topics—and you'll find the full schedule right there.

Always More to Explore
Flattening the Learning Curve

Students admitted to U of T Engineering can now benefit from an exclusive new program: the U of T Engineering Academy (UTEA). Designed in close consultation with professors, curriculum leads, and high school teachers, this free, optional, self-directed, not-for-credit program introduces new students to key concepts that will equip them for success in their first year, including programming in C and Python. Admitted students can register starting in mid-March through their Engineering Applicant Portal. Learn more.

Taking Gamification Further

We're thrilled to report that U of T Mississauga is set to acquire Syd Bolton’s game collection: one of the world's largest collections of its kind and the largest in Canada. Assembled privately over twenty years, the collection includes 13,000+ video games, consoles, classic arcade machines, peripherals, books, magazines, manuals, and more. Our faculty are now hard at work integrating this rich collection into curricular and co-curricular programming on and off campus. Complete holdings will eventually be searchable online.

Making Learning Matter

Students at U of T Scarborough now enjoy even more choice when tailoring their degree to their tastes, with the addition of a Major in Creative Writing and a double degree (HBA & HBSc) in English and Psychology to its growing menu of programs. The next generation of anthropologists will also be able to pursue a new Certificate in Bioarchaeology. And UTSC's Culinaria Research Centre continues to support the community at this critical time through its Feeding the City initiative.

Top 10 for Global Employability

Did you know that our Professional Experience Year (PEY Co-op) program is still running? While fewer placements outside of Canada are available due to travel restrictions, international firms continue to hire U of T Engineering students for positions in Canada. To date, 525+ students have secured a PEY co-op job for May 2021. This is higher than the success rate at this time last year!
