Application Deadline
The UVic application deadline for the Fall 2024 intake is January 31, 2024. More information on the application process can be found on the How to Apply section of our undergraduate admission website. Please encourage any interested students to submit their applications and remind them to them to connect with me if they have any questions.
One-on-one Appointments with Students and Parents
Students and parents can book one-on-one appointments with me to learn how to become a UVic student and have their questions answered. Virtual appointments can be booked using our online booking system and in-person appointments can be booked by contacting me directly, via maggiemesser@uvic.ca.
Grades-Based Entrance Scholarships for Domestic Students
This year, we will be awarding automatic grades-based entrance scholarships to Canadian citizens and permanent residents completing a Canadian secondary school diploma. To be eligible, students must be entering UVic directly from secondary school or within two years of completing secondary school with no previous post-secondary studies and meet the following admission average minimums:
All domestic students: minimum 90% (32 IB points, excluding bonus) $2,000+
Indigenous students: minimum 85% (30 IB points, excluding bonus) $1,500+
There are additional automatic grades-based entrance scholarships available to students applying into the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science who are Indigenous or identify as women. Students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents, and meet the eligibility requirements and the following admission average minimums:
Women in Engineering and Computer Science students: 85% (30 IB points, excluding bonus) $1,500+
Indigenous Engineering and Computer Science students: 85% (30 IB points, excluding bonus) $4,000+
Grades-Based Entrance Scholarships for International Students
This year, we will be awarding automatic grades-based entrance scholarships with a value of at least $10,000 to international students entering UVic directly from secondary schools in Canada who meet the following admission average minimums:
Canadian Curriculum: 90%
IB Curriculum: 36 points (excluding bonus)
International students completing the International Baccalaureate program with a minimum of 32 IB points (excluding bonus) will be considered for an additional entrance scholarship of $2000 provided they send their interim/final IB scores to Undergraduate Admissions by March 15.
Specific Criteria Entrance Scholarships
We also offer specific criteria entrance scholarships, which are based on admission average and other criteria, and do require an application. The specific-criteria applications will be open from February 15 to April 30. Students can find more information about the entrance scholarships at UVic here.
Upcoming Events
Our fall events have had a great turnout, with over 2000 students, parents, and supporters attending our on-campus Explore UVic event last month. We want to continue to offer helpful content and support throughout your student’s next steps. We have the following virtual events coming up in December and January:
Discover UVic virtual information sessions are designed for prospective students to learn about all that the University of Victoria has to offer. We’ll cover topics from campus life and housing to hands-on learning and what it means to relocate to Victoria. There are Discover UVic events scheduled for December 12 at 5:00pm PST and January 18, 6:00pm PST.
Destination UVic virtual sessions are designed for prospective international students to learn about why UVic education is a game-changer for international students. We’ll cover topics including the international student supports at UVic, the affordability of living and learning in Victoria, the quality of life in Canada, and more. Current international students and recent alumni will also share about their extraordinary journeys at UVic. There are Destination UVic events scheduled for January 19 at 9:00pm PST and January 23 at 5:00pm PST.
Parent Night virtual session will guide parents and guardians on how to help their students succeed and thrive in their first year of university with a focus on strategies to navigate the transition from high school to university. Prospective students are welcome. The next session is scheduled for January 16 at 7:00pm PST.
