School’s almost out for the summer! We’ve enjoyed connecting with you and your students, many of whom we will be welcoming to the UBC community in September.

Course registration

Students who have accepted their offer of admission should start preparing for course registration. Their assigned course registration date and time will be provided by email and is also available in the Student Service Centre. Additional information about course registration is available online for UBC Okanagan and UBC Vancouver.

Deferring admission

Students who have received an offer of admission to full-time studies in the first year of a degree may be able to request a deferral for one year. Please review the eligibility criteria, including which degrees do not grant deferrals, carefully.

To request a deferral, students must accept their offer and submit a deferred admission request form before July 1 (for UBC Vancouver degrees) or before August 15 (for UBC Okanagan degrees). UBC is unable to approve all deferral applications, so we recommend that students still register for first-year courses while their deferral request is pending.

Orientation options for new UBC students

This summer, UBC is offering a series of orientation programs to help incoming students meet their first friends, get familiar with their new campus, and feel confident about starting university classes. Registration is now open for all programs.

Get started now on UBC 101, a series of free online modules with important information about on-campus services and course registration. Then register for Jump Start, a five-day, in-person academic orientation that takes place just before classes start in September.

Refresh and build your academic skills in July and August with up to three free online courses in the Academic Essentials program. Then register for Jump Start, a five-day, in-person academic orientation that takes place just before classes start in September.

Connecting with UBC: Fall 2022

Recently, we provided an email update about UBC’s recruitment activities for fall 2022. In BC, we plan to continue using inclusive virtual tools that can best serve the needs of students and their families. The email included a handy infographic, outlining our new approach and all the ways students can connect with UBC this fall.

Presentations for Indigenous students

The Indigenous recruiter-advisors would love to connect with you and the Indigenous students at your school. Our sessions are designed with Indigenous students in mind, offering information about specific programs and services available on both UBC campuses.
