It's February, so that means application decisions have begun!

If any students are worried that they missed the January 17 application deadline, there are a few programs that are still accepting applications. However, these degrees may close their application at any time without notice, so please encourage students to submit their applications as soon as possible.
When can students expect first round offers?
If your students applied by December 1, we've started reviewing their application for a first-round offer of admission. Any first round decisions will be communicated to students by the end of February.

If they have not heard back from us by then, encourage them to be patient. We will hold on to their application and review it again when we have more grade information. Find out more in our “Update on first-round offers of admission” blog post.
So, what happens now?
Now that students have sent in their application, they've entered the most difficult part of the process - waiting for a decision. Depending on the degree they applied for, the quality of their application, and when their grades become available, they can expect an admission decision between now and late April.

But there's still work to do! Direct your students to our “After you’ve applied” page for important information on their next steps.
Online resources for Indigenous students
Are you looking for resources for Indigenous students interested in applying to UBC, or who have already been admitted? Our Indigenous Students at UBC page brings together a wealth of useful information and resources for Indigenous students who will be attending UBC’s Okanagan and Vancouver campuses.
Uniform tuition rates
As offers of admission roll out across the country, students will begin to weigh the cost of their post-secondary options. UBC’s uniform tuition rates mean that there are no additional fees for out-of-province residents, and government student loan programs across Canada will factor in UBC costs and can be used toward UBC’s tuition and student fees.
First-year study options: A smooth transition

To make the transition to university as easy as possible, UBC offers a selection of first-year study options designed to help your students build a community, take the stress out of registering for classes, and work more closely with instructors. Each follows a predesigned timetable and students have the advantage of taking their classes with the same group of people.
SHAD Summer program at UBC
If your students are interested in STEAM subjects, they can experience SHAD at UBC Vancouver. SHAD is a month-long program for Grade 10 and 11 students that lets them participate in hands-on learning, collaborate in design teams, explore the UBC campus, and meet mentors and other high-achievers from across Canada.
New at UBC !
We are proud to offer two new pathways for Indigenous students to study at UBC:

The new Bachelor of Nsyilxcn Language Fluency at UBC Okanagan helps your students reach a profound knowledge of the language and written and oral proficiency. To apply, students must first have completed the two-year Nsyilxcn Language diploma at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology.

If your students are studying Indigenous Land Stewardship at the Native Education College (NEC) in Vancouver, they can now transfer their certificate into three different programs offered by UBC’s Forestry faculty: the Bachelor of Science in Forestry, Natural Resource Conservation, or the Bachelor of Urban Forestry.

That’s all for now. We look forward to connecting with you next month.
Sincerely,
