Updates to Admission Requirements/Processes

Updated Ontario Admission Requirements for Arts-based programs

What has changed?

  • The admission average will be calculated using English 4U, plus their next best five 4U/4M courses.
  • This same calculation will also be applied to the Award Average calculation for our automatic admission scholarships for all Ontario high school students.

QuARMS Application Deadline:

  • The deadline to apply for admission to the Queen’s Accelerated Route to Medical School (QuARMS) pathway is now December 8, 2021.
  • As a reminder, the QuARMS pathway is only available to students who are Indigenous or who self-identify as Black African, Black Caribbean, Black North American or multi-racial students who have and identify with their Black ancestry. A complete list of eligibility requirements are available here.

Supplementary Information & Equity Self-Id Form

Supplementary Essay (SE)

  • The deadline to submit the SE is February 152022.
  • Applicants to Commerce and Health Sciences are required to submit the Supplemental Essay (SE). For Nursing Science applicants, the SE remains optional, but is strongly recommended. In addition, there are some guidelines for the essay questions, specifically to the timeframe within those questions remain valid.

Optional Equity Self-Id Form

  • One of the items on a student’s To-Do List will be the “Equity Self-ID Form”.
  • This optional form gives applicants the opportunity to self-identify as an Indigenous person, a member of a racialized or visible minority group, a person with a disability or a person who identifies as 2SLGBTQ+.
  • The Equity Self-ID Form is part of the commitment that Queen’s makes to identify and eliminate barriers to education for historically and currently underrepresented groups.

Admission Awards

Major Admission Awards (MAA):
 

  • The deadline to submit the MAA application is December 8, 2021.
  • Qualified students may apply for all the Major Admission Awards by submitting a single MAA application. This application is submitted ONLINE through a student’s SOLUS Student Centre.

Commitment Scholars Award:

  • Application deadline is February 15, 2022. 
  • The Commitment Scholars Award celebrates and recognizes demonstrated leadership in, and commitment to, racial justice, social justice, or diversity initiatives by a student in their high school or in their community.
  • Eligible candidates will be entering first year of any first-entry undergraduate degree program, who self-identify on the application as a member of an underserved or underrepresented group, including Black, Indigenous and other racialized students, persons with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals.

We know that seeing our campus and getting to know Queen’s is an important part of the decision-making process in choosing the right university. We have been working hard to develop virtual alternatives to bridge the gap created by restrictions from the pandemic; which is why we're happy to bring back our Fall Preview events from November 1st to November 11th, 2021!

While we are still unable to offer in-person events, we are thrilled to be able to offer an online glimpse at Queen's: our beautiful campus, faculties, programs, residences, and providing your students with all the admission information they need to help them in their decision! Equity Ambassadors:

The Equity Ambassadors (EA) Program is one component of an overarching strategy at Queen's University to promote equity, diversity, and an inclusive environment. The Queen’s Equity Ambassadors consists of a diverse group of undergraduate students who connect with prospective students to share their unique experiences as BIPOC/Racialized students at Queen’s. If a student wishes to connect with an EA, they can reach out to 1gen@queensu.ca.
