Youth Program Coordinators Assistant
The Gardens at HCP is a public garden and place of learning in Saanich. The HCP (Horticulture Centre of
the Pacific is a not-for-profit society focused on the provision of horticulture education and the
development and maintenance of 104 acres of educational gardens and conservation lands. We are
currently looking for a post-secondary student to help fill our summer employment position. The
successful candidate will work with the School & Youth Program Coordinator to assist with Junior
Master Gardener summer camps and coordinate self-guided visits for schools and youth groups and
assist with workshops.
General Duties will include:
-Collaborate, support, and lead hands-on and interactive youth tours and workshops and summer camps in the Gardens
-Develop creatve school tour programs based on BC School curriculum as directed by the School and Youth Programs Coordinator
-Create additional youth program resources
The successful Candidate must be able to; work independently with staff and volunteers; show a high
regard for safety, and value collaboration of a fun and active learning experience. Having experience
growing food, knowledge of BC School curriculum, interest in natural systems and experience working
with children, and a current Level 1 First Aid certficate are assets. The successful candidate will require
a Criminal Record Check and to provide their own laptop.
Term Position – for July 8-24, with the opportunity to extend the term position if funding becomes
available.
Wage: $15 per hour
Total Hours: 105 hours
Days: Monday through Friday during camp weeks, with some fexibility the week between
camps
