A message from Ken Withers, Director of Student Recruitment at the U of T:

We understand this is a difficult time for students and schools across Canada and around the world. With school closures, exam delays, and event cancellations, we are all wrestling with shifting timelines and a great deal of uncertainty about how and when normal life may resume.

The University of Toronto is committed to providing you and your students with our most up-to-date information on admission processes and next steps. We have posted some FAQs on our website, along with additional resources on how the COVID-19 pandemic may shape the coming months. This set of FAQs will be updated regularly here: future.utoronto.ca/apply/covid19.

Our teams are currently working offsite, and there has been no impact on the processing of applications. Your students can continue to view their current application status on the Join U of T Applicant Portal, or the Engineering Applicant Portal. Please encourage students who have applied to U of T to monitor these portals regularly for essential updates, including new FAQs and upcoming webinars for admitted students.

  Meeting Offer Conditions

We realize that many schools have not been able to offer the same instruction or grading as would normally be the case. We will be listening to what schools and school boards tell us about how graduation requirements may have been modified this year. A change in a school's grading process, or alternative methods of assessment used by a school or examination board, will not negatively affect an offer of admission. And if a school or board cannot provide any further results for the term, we will consider the results we already have as final.

If students are concerned about meeting specific conditions in their offer, know that we are committed to working with all admitted students who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We will exercise as much flexibility as possible to make sure students aren't disadvantaged by circumstances beyond their control. Applicants and admitted students should contact the faculty or campus directly with questions or concerns – we are here to help!

Resources for Grade 10 and 11 Students

For your grade 10 and 11 students who are interested in learning more about the University of Toronto, our Student Recruitment team will be hosting interactive webcasts through April and May. Interested students can register for these webcasts at: future.utoronto.ca/visit/webcasts.

  Resources for the Counselling Community

To better support the counselling community through this uncertain season, we are continuing to update our online Resources for Counsellors. We will be hosting both general and region-specific counsellor webinars through April, to provide you and your colleagues with our most up-to-date information and to answer any questions you may have. In addition, if you would like to request a U of T visit for students in your school, you can complete the Request a U of T Visit form and our team will get back to you.

We encourage you to bookmark our Resources for Counsellors page and check back from time to time.

Our Student Recruitment teams across the University of Toronto are here for you, and for your students, as we navigate these challenging straits together. We warmly welcome inquiries of any kind, anytime, at future.students@utoronto.ca.

Please feel free to forward this email widely to your teams and colleagues in the counselling community. We thank you for your support and look forward to supporting you and your students in the coming weeks and months.

With our thanks,

Ken Withers
