Happy new year!

As we approach the final application deadline, we wanted to send you a few updates that we hope you find useful.

Final Application Deadline

There's only a couple of days before our final application deadline on January 15. A few days after students submit their application, they will receive an acknowledgement email with instructions on how to access the Join U of T applicant portal.

Find information on how applications are assessed here.

Once they have access to the applicant portal, they should begin submitting required documents and completing supplementary steps. We strongly encourage applicants to complete next steps well before our deadlines. See all of our important applications dates here.

Admission decisions

Admission decisions will be released in rounds monthly starting in late January through to late May—and into the summer depending on the applicant. Not all program areas will release admission decisions in all rounds of admission. Also, multiple applications are considered independently, so a student may receive admission decisions at different times if they have more than one application to U of T.

Updates

Engineering Update

U of T Engineering has recently broadened the minimum Chemistry requirement for students pursuing the British Pattern curriculum. This will be a pilot for the next 4-years while the Faculty assesses the level of preparation of this group of admits. Previously, applicants were required to present at least AS-level Chemistry to be eligible for admission consideration. Moving forward, students with only IGCSE/GCE/O-level Chemistry will also be eligible for consideration (though A-level or AS-level Chemistry is still strongly recommended). For more details on admission requirements to the Faculty, please see here.

If you have any questions about this update, please email engineering@utoronto.ca.

Enrichment Opportunities

International Summer Academy

We have a variety of summer opportunities on campus for Canadian and international high school students. The International Programs, New College offers 3-week summer term non-credit courses throughout June-August 2025.

The Youth International English Program is a summer camp suitable for students (ages 13-18) of all English language ability levels, from beginner to advanced, and provides customized educational, social, and cross-cultural experiences that develop students’ English language ability and sense of belonging to a global community.

The Pre-University Programs (ages 15-18) are designed for students with advanced levels of English and provide innovative and forward-thinking courses and the opportunity for students to immerse themselves at Canada’s premier university and gain valuable skills and experiences. We welcome inquiries at internationalprograms@utoronto.ca.

More information can be found here: https://internationalprograms.utoronto.ca/.

Engineering Outreach Programs

U of T Engineering Outreach offers year-round programs designed to immerse high school students in the exciting, hands-on world of STEM and engineering.

Registration is open for our winter programs, and spaces are filling up! Winter programs include Ready, Set, Code! (Virtual) and CREATE Weekends (On-Campus).

Our summer programs for high school students are application based, which means students need to apply and be accepted in order to register for classes. Applications are open for Blueprint–A mentorship and skill-building program for Black students in grades 10-11, exploring pathways in engineering.

Discover all our programs and register today at outreach.engineering.utoronto.ca. Please share this information and encourage any students who may be interested to apply. Questions about outreach programs can be directed to outreach@engineering.utoronto.ca.
