BCYP, British Columbia Youth Parliament, is a non-profit and non-partisan, youth service organization. Each year, they fulfill their motto of “youth serving youth” through various individual and group projects organized to serve the youth of British Columbia.
Their sessional year starts in December, where from December 27th-31st, 97 youth aged 16 to 21 from across BC travel to the Legislative Assembly in Victoria for a five-day simulation of Parliament where we legislate bills that govern BCYP’s community service projects for the remainder of the year. Participants get the opportunity to hear from a large number of speakers from around the community, meet youth from around the province, and engage in a wide variety of fun social activities. More information on BCYP can be found at bcyp.org
BCYP is looking for service-oriented, hard-working youth to join our organization. Interested? Check out their website, bcyp.org/apply and download the application PDF. Interested students will need to write a personal statement outlining why they want to join the organization and have an organization they are currently a part of (club, youth group or school) nominate them.
Attached to this email is a brochure, and if you have any questions, concerns or would like one of our members to present via Zoom to your students, please contact Cindy at cindy.fu@bcyp.org
