Do you love dogs? Love watching dog agility events like Superdogs? Want to get right up and in on the action? Try volunteering as a Ring Crew Assistant with Capital Comets Dog Sports Club.

HERE is more information on the event!

The event runs the weekend of October 19-20, 2024. Specific tasks for Ring Crew (normally 4-5 at one time) sit in chairs around the ring and observe the dogs run their course with their handler, and in between each dog run, ring crew reset jump bars that fall, help reset agility equipment to correct heights according to dog heights, help to transfer dog's leashes from start lines to finish lines etc, There would be a mentor involved throughout to explain duties, and support students to understand the overall goals of creating a positive experience for everyone involved, including for our canine partners.  We are open to having volunteers commit to blocks of time (4-5 hours) over the two days.  For example, most volunteers commit to a morning or an afternoon on one or both days. Some volunteers commit to a block of time on each day.

Students would be sitting on a chair around the perimeter of an agility ring.  Ring crew (students) are not to interact with the dogs while in the ring.  If they really enjoy dogs in general or, have career plans in animal sciences, dog training, canine related businesses etc. and wanted to interact with the dogs present, then they would be able to speak to the handlers outside of the ring to get permission to do that after or before they are ring crewing.   Participants in the event would be more than willing to accommodate such requests. Being a ring crew is the best seat in the house, as you get to watch some amazingly well-trained dogs and handlers performing agility courses at speed while employing great skills.  We also have some gifts that were donated to our club by local pet/canine businesses, for our volunteers. .

If students are interested in volunteering for a block or time on one or both days that weekend, they can contact  Ray at RayHB04@gmail.com or phone 778 587-3320.
