Central Saanich Extreme is looking for a part time cook to operate the grill in our concession. 

A grill cook at a Central Saanich Extreme concession is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of concession menu items quickly and efficiently. The job involves operating grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment to grill burgers, cook hot dogs, and prepare other concession stand food items. The grill cook must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, follow food safety guidelines, and maintain a clean workstation. Portion control, food waste and sanitation are additional areas that the Concession Cook must be aware of while operating in the concession stand. The grill cook would also be responsible for opening and closing the concession and providing front end volunteers with support and direction during the shift.

Shifts would include weeknights and weekends during the remainder of June and correspond with the game and practice schedules. The individual must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for cooking and packaging food product which is prepared to order or kept warm until sold.
  • Receives verbal orders from the counter staff for food product requirements for guest orders.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality and production standards on all menu items. Food must be fresh and of high quality when served to the guests.
  • Responsible for portion control and serving temperatures of all products served in the concession stand.
  • Responsible for cleaning, stocking and restocking of kitchen workstations.
  • Responsible for operating large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers and ovens.
  • Ensures that kitchen work areas and equipment are clean, food products are properly stored, utensils are clean and put away and floor is swept and mopped at end of shift.
  • Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
  • Must show demonstrated ability to meet the standard for excellent attendance.
  • Provide input for food orders, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate with Extreme Fastball Board members, front counter volunteers and customers in a clear and respectful.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • A Food Safe certification.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Compensation

§ $18 - $20 / hour
