Camosun News and Campus Events

  • Students entering their first year of studies at Camosun can now apply for 2024 Entrance Awards! Open from March 1 to August 1, more info here: Entrance Awards and Bursaries
  • Camosun Comic Arts Festival (CCAF) will be happening on April 18, from 2-7pm at our Lansdowne Campus in the Wilna Thomas building's Sherri Bell Hall (room 224). This event is open to public and will showcase students work from the Comics & Graphic Novels Certificate Program. 
  • Camosun Digital Film Fest will be happening on April 24, from 6:30-9:30pm at our Lansdowne Campus in the Young Building, room 216. The festival will feature short films and live productions from the class of DIME 116. Students had the winter term to pitch, write, and produce 8-10 minute non-fiction productions. 
­

Featured Study Area: Indigenous Learning

Indigenous courses, many taught by Indigenous faculty, center on Indigenous perspectives and issues. A number of courses provide opportunities for in-community and 
on-the-land learning and include teachings from Elders and other knowledge keepers.

Open Indigenous courses and some Indigenous programs welcome both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students.

Archaeological Field Assistant, Certificate

  • If you are interested in archaeology in BC or if you are an Indigenous community member working with heritage in your territory, this intensive program will teach you respectful 
    applied skills.
  • 84 hours over 4 weeks.

Indigenous Community Wellness, Certificate

  • Prepare to support concepts of Indigenous wellness within agencies and community organizations that serve Indigenous peoples.
  • Full time, 10 months.

Indigenous Peoples in Trades Training, Certificate

  • The IPTT program is open to eligible Indigenous people of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels. Funding offers assistance to cover tuition, books and tools to those that are eligible.
  • Full time, 12 weeks.

Indigenous Studies, Diploma

  • Broaden your understanding of Indigenous peoples in Canada and develop the knowledge and skills to prepare you for your role as a leader in your community.

Indigenous College Prep, Certificate

  • This certificate program prepares you to enter college and pursue university-level studies. Taught at the Saanich Adult Education Centre near Brentwood Bay, you get the best of both the community and college worlds.
