Panorama is hiring Assistant Summer Day Camp Leaders for summer!
Rate of Pay: $19.53 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
Hours of Work: Up to 80 hours bi-weekly. Nine weeks of full-time work between Tuesday July 2nd - Friday August 30th, with training on Saturday May 25th and Saturday June 15th
Summary
This position assists in the implementation and delivery of active and engaging day camp programming for school age children. Assisting in the implementation and delivery of a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, the successful applicant will have a positive impact on the children and families involved and be an important member of the community recreation team. The incumbent will assist in ensuring children are engaged and provided with developmentally and age-appropriate programming, while ensuring participant safety and wellbeing throughout.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in the delivery of safe, successful, healthy and enjoyable programming for school age children.
- Assists with daily classroom preparation and execution of planned activities, including off-site trips.
- Provides learning and guidance to participants on appropriate behaviour during play and activities.
- Works collaboratively with a Summer Day Camp Leader.
- Delivers care and support with behaviour management, inclusion, first aid and other areas relating to caring for children.
- Ensures equipment and program spaces are safe and sanitary before and after each program session.
- Acts as a liaison between the general public and CRD; providing good customer service and clear communication with parents and caregivers.
- Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
- Performs other related duties as required.

- Some paid planning, training and development time will be scheduled in May and June.
Key Skills & Abilities
- Experience assisting or leading recreational programs for school age children.
- Leadership abilities, including role model behaviours, along with the ability to demonstrate sound judgement while creating a positive, enthusiastic, safe and fun program environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal and customer service skills.
Certifications
- Acceptable criminal record check. The applicant/incumbent is required to undergo a criminal record check to work in this position and to report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment.
- Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
