Sea Cider is hiring a part time Cook! Do you love the idea of creating cider-centric foodie experiences on an organic farm that crafts award-winning cider? 

The Job

Our Cooks prepare food and keep our kitchen & deli clean and safe for use. Our Cooks also help develop new menu items, and work in a positive, inclusive environment where collaboration and idea sharing is encouraged. Other duties include:

  • prepping ingredients
  • preparing and plating dishes and assembling orders
  • presenting food orders to guests, explaining each dish and answering questions
  • completing our culinary Opening and Closing Checklists
  • counting inventory & alerting the Culinary Supervisor when items are running low
  • keeping food storage areas clean and organized
  • Bussing and dishwashing

Full shifts are generally 10:30am to 6:30pm, and half day shifts vary (e.g. 10:30am to 2:30pm; 2:30pm to 6:30pm). Compensation is $17.50 per hour plus 4% vacation pay plus pooled gratuities. Training will be provided on Sea Cider culinary protocols and cider, of course!

Sea Cider is a certified organic farm near Victoria BC that grows heirloom apples and produces award-winning cider and sparkling juice. About You

You are a friendly, hard working foodie with a proven track record in commercial kitchens. In addition, you have:

  • Education: Food Safe Level 1 and Serving It Right - required; post secondary training in commercial kitchens - preferred.
  • Vocational experience in a commercial kitchen, restaurant or deli - required.
  • Computer skills: familiarity with POS systems and an eagerness to learn new programs.
  • Communication skills & teamwork: an aptitude for diplomacy and the ability to give feedback to colleagues so that it is well received. Demonstrated success in teamwork and helping to foster an inclusive, positive work environment.
  • Personal aptitude: curiosity, great listening skills and openness to feedback.
  • Work week availability: Able to work part-time hours during the day, either full day or half day shifts, generally between 10:30am and 6:30pm.
  • Physicality: The physical strength to safely lift and carry heavy items (up to 25 kg); work on your feet for hours at a time; perform frequent physical movements in a kitchen throughout the day and to work indoors and outdoors, rain or shine.
  • Health & Safety mindset, and agree to follow our Communicable Disease Plan and all safety protocols.
