We have two exciting and informative events to help Indigenous students get to know about all the opportunities available at Simon Fraser University and better understand the university application process. 

The SFU INDIGinar

Wednesday, December 13, 2023 I 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM (online)

We welcome all Indigenous high school students and those who support their learning journey to join in this virtual webinar full of Indigenous student-focused information. This webinar provides guidance with the SFU application process, including a mock application session, a review of the requirements, and a list of university application deadlines.

The webinar will also introduce the Indigenous recruitment team, so students can make connections while learning more about SFU’s admission pathways and academic programs. Other webinar highlights include:

• Scholarships, awards, and funding specifically for Indigenous students
• Introduction to support services available to Indigenous students on all three SFU campuses
• Details about our Indigenous SFU community and events like the Honouring Feast, Indigenous Students Traditional Pow Wow, Skoden Film Festival, monthly Indigenous student lunches, beading circles, Elders tea, gatherings, and Welcome Day
• Information on SFU Residences
• A Q&A session to answer everyone’s questions!

Indigenous Student Preview Day at SFU 2024

Friday, January 19, 2024 I 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, SFU Burnaby Campus 

This event at the Burnaby campus offers Indigenous students in grades 8 through 12 the opportunity to spend a day in the moccasins of an Indigenous SFU student to experience what life at SFU is like. The day includes morning refreshments, a campus tour, and a delicious lunch at the all-you-care-to-eat SFU Dining Commons buffet.

During Preview Day, current Indigenous SFU students will share what it is like to be a student at SFU right now, we’ll visit the Indigenous Student Centre, learn about the vibrant Indigenous community events held at SFU, and connect with one of our Indigenous Student Centre Elders in residence. There will also be a Faculty Fair to learn about the variety of educational programs available at SFU.

Parking on campus on the day is available and free, and we will provide you with a parking code prior to arriving on campus.
