Welcome to 2022!

What is New and Relevant

With the start of a new year, we wanted to provide some updates from our Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment Office. We will continue to receive applications for first year, full time programs beginning study in September 2022 until February 1, 2022.

We encourage applicants to set up their Queen’s Student SOLUS account as soon as they receive their acknowledgement of application from us. Reviewing their SOLUS account provides them the opportunity to review any required documents needed to support their application – some with February 15 deadlines! Offers of admission have started and will continue on a rolling basis until mid-May.
Upcoming Dates & Deadlines
February 1:
  • The deadline for new applications, or to add additional program choices to a Queen’s application (to a maximum of three), at the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) for all first year, full time applicants.
    • We do not make alternate offers of admission –applicants are considered for admission only to the programs to which they have applied.
February 15:
  • The deadline to submit a supplementary essay (if required)
  • The deadline to submit Fine Art portfolios for those applying to our Fine Art and/or Concurrent Education/Fine Art degree programs. Portfolio information can be found here
  • Applications for the Commitment Scholars Award are due. Review additional information in the Admission Awards section found below.
  • Queen’s Admission Bursary Application is due.
Continue to help your students stay on-track by following this link for an updated list of important dates and  deadlines for current applicants. Encourage  your students to check their SOLUS ‘to do’ list to ensure they are aware of required documents and the applicable deadlines.

Updates to Admission Requirements/Processes
As we ease into the new year, there are some important updates to our admission requirements and processes you need to take into consideration. Two new and outstanding ones are the Process for Transcript Submission for BC Curriculum Applicants and our new Online Document Upload Form.

We now require BC high school curriculum students to have their grades sent electronically by the BC Ministry of Education Student Transcript Service (STS). For this to occur, two steps are required. First, they must include their Personal Education Number (PEN) as part of their Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) application. Second, they must authorize the BC Ministry of Education to release their academic information (transcript) to OUAC through the Student Transcripts Service.   We are asking that schools not send us transcripts this year but guide their students through the process as outlined above.

Additional note on Admission Requirements
All admission requirements, based on high school curriculum, can be found on our website. For students to be considered for admission into their selected program(s), all current courses as well as registered courses, should be listed on their transcript.

Supplementary Essay (SE)
Students applying to the Bachelor of Commerce program (OUAC code QC) and/or either of the Bachelor of Health Sciences programs (OUAC code QH [Kingston campus] and QIH [BISC campus]) program are required to submit the Supplemental Essay (SE). We recommend those applying to our Bachelor of Nursing Science (QN) program complete and submit the Supplementary Essay. For all other programs there is no Supplementary Essay (SE) or Personal Statement of Experience (PSE) available.

Admission Awards
We would also like to remind you of our available Admission Awards! At Queen's, we recognize a university education is a major financial undertaking. All Queen's students share the ability to excel academically, but many may not be able to fully finance their university education. We want to help you help your students to achieve that goal.

We have different admission awards available to which your students can apply based on their eligibility. Some of the major ones are: The Commitment Scholars Awards, The Promise Scholars Award, the Admission Bursary, and the Automatic Admission Scholarships.

Detailed information about eligibility criteria, and more, can be found under the "Admission Awards" section of the Guidance Counsellors Resources page on our website.

In-person Campus Tours

Due to rising COVID-19 cases in the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFL&A) region, and to help limit the spread of the virus, in-person campus tours are currently cancelled. We realize that this may be disappointing for many of your students and their support systems, but we hope they will join us for our Guided Virtual Tours. We sincerely hope to welcome them back as soon as it is safe to do so.
